Duties:
To prepare and deliver RMOT 496 (Resource Management and Aboriginal Rights), a fourth-year course in the Bachelor of Natural Resource Protection program. The successful candidate will revise the course in consultation with departmental faculty and deliver the course. The course is scheduled from 11:30 to 14:30 on Fridays during the spring (Jan - Apr) term. The successful applicant will be responsible for all aspects of the course revision, delivery, and student assessment.
Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
Required Qualifications:
A Law Degree or Master's Degree in an applicable field from an appropriately accredited institution. At least 5 years of work experience in First Nations natural resource management or policy (e.g., fisheries, wildlife, parks and forestry). Expertise in First Nations resource management case law. Strong oral and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated success working as a team member and the ability to work independently. Experience teaching adult learners.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree from an appropriately accredited institution. Experience teaching in a post-secondary environment.
