Job Duties


Developing and delivering courses, lectures, demonstrations and field activities in Field Investigative Techniques, Forensic Sciences, preparing and executing Search Warrants, Interviews and Interrogation, Use of Force and Defensive Tactics, Canadian Criminal Justice, Canadian Firearm Safety, and other courses as assigned.

Supervising students in classroom, laboratory and field settings.

Evaluating students using examination, assignments, observations of field skills and recording progress.

Selecting, designing, updating and constructing training aids.

Counseling students with respect to educational and employment opportunities.

Attend meetings, seminars, and workshops to keep current with industry and educational standards.

Liaison with educational partners and industry.



QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)


Technical diploma or university degree in Resource and Environmental Law Enforcement or a related police sciences discipline.

Five years recent experience conducting enforcement and compliance activities relating to resource and environmental conservation with a minimum three-year experience as a certified use-of-force and defensive tactics instructor with Police College or equivalent.

Knowledge and application of provincial and federal resource & environmental legislation and legal procedures under the Criminal Code and The Summary Offences Procedures Act, 1990.

Possession of a valid PAL (approved gun handler) and current Level C CPR/First Aid with AED certification.

Valid Class 5 Driver's License and Defensive Driving certificate.

Effective instructional ability.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, email, MS Office Suite software and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.

Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.

Demonstrates valuing diversity.
