The Opportunity: What You'll Do:



As an Instructor in CNA's

Mining Engineering Technician

program, you'll play a key role in training students for successful careers across Canada's resource sector. You'll bridge the gap between the classroom and the field by bringing industry practices, safety culture, and problem-solving skills to life through engaging, hands-on instruction.

You will:

Deliver practical, applied training in areas such as:

Surface and underground mine operations Geophysical and geological surveying Mineral exploration, sampling, and analysis Mine planning, design, and safety systems Ventilation, ground control, and blasting techniques Environmental monitoring and sustainable mining practices
Lead laboratory and field exercises, demonstrating real-world applications of engineering concepts.

Mentor students through technical problem-solving, encouraging innovation and teamwork.

Apply and adapt your industry experience to continuously improve course materials, ensuring content reflects the latest technologies, automation systems, and safety standards.

Collaborate with faculty, industry partners, and advisory committees to align program outcomes with workforce needs.

Support the maintenance of accreditation and quality standards, ensuring graduates are job-ready and industry-relevant.

Contribute to a positive learning environment that emphasizes professionalism, inclusion, and student success.

Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with evolving mining practices, equipment, and technologies.

Merit Criteria



Screening Criteria



Completion of a bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering (equivalencies will be considered).

5 years' recent, relevant work experience in the mining sector as a Mining Engineer.

Assessment Criteria



Knowledge in the subject area of the mining industry including mining operations and practices.

Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices in the mining industry.

Proficiency with technology.

Organizational and time management skills.

Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to guide students through technical challenges and industry-relevant scenarios.

Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with students, faculty and staff.

Ability to explain complex mining concepts clearly and engage students by using real-life examples to enhance understanding.

Commitment to teaching while fostering and delivering a positive and safe learning environment for all students.

Verification of credentials and applicable licenses, certifications, and/or professional memberships as required for the position.

Credentials obtained outside of Canada will require an evaluation to determine their Canadian educational equivalency. This evaluation must support the educational requirements for the position.*

Acknowledges requirement to obtain Class 4 Driver's License.

Recent and satisfactory Driver's Abstract (all classes).
