Your Opportunity:We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our site Inservice Education team as a Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) in the Medicine Department at the Sturgeon Community Hospital. The primary role of the CNE-Medicine is to provide and facilitate continuing education, professional development, and evaluation of clinical skills for nursing staff based on adult education principles, to ensure that clinical competencies and organizational standards/practices are maintained. Dual reporting to the Clinical Education Manager and Patient Care Manager for Medicine the incumbent works closely with other CNEs and the Sturgeon Community Hospital management team to ensure best nursing practice and provision of quality care. Other duties include promoting the clinical competence of staff through policy, procedures, protocols, and technology. The successful incumbent will be required to work closely at the bedside with the frontline nurses. This position is physically demanding, including (but not limited to) standing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, carrying, twisting, bending, kneeling, crouching, overhead lifting, mobilization and repetitive movements. Must also have the ability to assist with all levels of care for bariatric patients, as well as the ability to handle 21-50 pounds frequently. Must possess strong communication skills utilizing a variety of modalities (for example: verbal, written, active listening) and the ability to adapt communication style. This position is predominantly day shifts but may be required to work evenings and nights to support nursing education.Description:As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:A Baccalaureate degree in nursing with a minimum 5 years current nursing experience in acute inpatient medicine required. An equivalent combination of 5 years medicine with other acute care experience and knowledge will be considered. 2 years of recent adult educator experience including the development of educational materials is required. Must have current experience with Connect Care (EPIC) documentation specifically the ClinDOC platform. Must possess excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, as well as excellent knowledge of the nursing process, best nursing and evidence based practice. Must be highly motivated, self directed, and flexible. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation CPR certification required. Preferred Qualifications:Heart and Stroke Foundation instructor level preferred.
