Pay Grade The annual salary range is $70,437- $112,872 (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications, experience, and the placement criteria of Article 14 of the NICFA Collective agreement.
Position Summary
Seeking an instructor to deliver KWA 097 in Li??ala language.
This course will be taught via an online synchronous delivery model, with classes running Thursdays from 6:00pm -9:00pm.
Students will learn basic conversation, structure, and pronunciation with an emphasis on listening and speaking during immersion sets that increase in length and complexity throughout the course. The units will cover a wide variety of themes, including greetings, social interaction, household activities, community, environment of the beach and forest, place names, food harvesting and preparation and cultural activities. Combined, these encompass the way of life of the Kwakwaka'wakw and Li??i?dax?? and give insight to how Kwak'wala/Li??ala is essential to who we are and how Kwak'wala/Li??ala guides our relationships with self, the land, sea, sky, sacred realms, community, and society. Students will be introduced to learner strategies and methods that are advantageous for Indigenous language acquisition.
