INSTRUCTOR, HEALTH SCIENCES (Microbiology)
The Cape Breton University (CBU) invites applications for a Full-Time Continuing position in the School of Education and Health in the Health Sciences Department as the rank of Instructor - Microbiology. This position will commence January 1, 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter).

The Bachelor of Health Sciences (Public Health) program at CBU is one of only six in Canada accredited by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI) and the only program of its kind in Atlantic Canada. Offered since 1996, the program has a strong reputation and established partnerships with community organizations, government agencies and industry.
The successful candidate will primarily teach courses within the Health Sciences Department, supporting students in the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Public Health) program, as well as those in Nursing, Environmental Engineering Technology, Nutrition and Science. Courses may include Microbiology, Foodborne Disease, Bio contaminants in Indoor Environments, Epidemiology, Environmental Microbiology, Cell Processes, Issues in Public Health, Medical Microbiology and other related courses as assigned.
Instruction may be delivered face-to-face and/or online, depending on program needs.
Applicants should have an appropriate undergraduate degree, and be pursuing or already have obtained a Master's degree in an appropriate field. As well, applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of practice within their field of expertise. Candidates with teaching experience at the post-secondary level are strongly encouraged to apply. Research is not an expectation with this position. Candidates with a certification such as RM and/or CPHI are preferred.
