Under the direction of the Manager, the CNE is responsible for providing collaborative leadership as well as providing and facilitating education and quality initiatives, based on adult education principles, for staff within the Emergency, IVT and Allied Health. The CNE facilitates, coordinates, and supports the implementation of educational initiatives as part of orientation, professional development/continuing education, changes in policy, procedure, protocols, and technology to promote clinical competence. The CNE acts as a role model and resource to staff for leadership and professional development and clinical competency. This position has responsibility to both unit and site wide education and initiatives. The incumbent is responsible for delivering excellence in clinical practice and leadership and delivery of programs based on identified needs which include legislation, continued competencies, quality improvement, strategic plans and objectives and organizational needs.

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in an emergency department setting. Demonstrated proficiency with computer programs such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, and Microsoft Word. Demonstrated proficiency with computer systems: Connect Care, Netcare, REPAC. Preferred Qualifications: CPR Instructor Level is preferred. Previous educator experience preferred. Current CTAS certification is preferred. ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, is an asset, instructor level preferred. Facilitation in simulation environments is an asset. IV therapy experience is preferred.
