MacPhail School of Energy
looking for an Instructor to teach in our
Electrical Engineering Technology
Program.
The Electrical Engineering Technology program covers course topics that include: power systems, electrical design (industrial and commercial) and PLC automation and controls. Other areas covered include; electric circuit analysis and applications, digital electronics, control systems, SCADA networking, project management, machine and transformer applications.
The ideal candidate will have a core background in
electrical power systems
, to teach the following subjects:
Power System Analysis
Protection and Control
Machine Applications
This position is responsible for a broad range of duties and responsibilities designed to support and accomplish SAIT's mission as an educational institution. These duties and responsibilities are fundamental to the success of the Instructor.
Note:
SAIT, as a post-secondary institution, serves a diverse student population. Therefore, instructional duties may occasionally be required during early mornings, evenings, and weekends. If selected, specific scheduling arrangements will be discussed between you and the leader.
The Role
+ Teach essential facts, concepts, procedures and principles to students in the Electrical Engineering Technology program, as outlined in the curriculum.
+ Use diverse teaching methods to support student learning and development.
+ Foster an inclusive, respectful, and engaging learning environment
+ Manage classroom (online or in-person) or lab settings to ensure a positive and productive experience for all learners.
+ Provide ongoing academic support, guidance, and feedback to students.
+ Assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, and exams.
+ Enter grades in designated systems (e.g., Banner, D2L, mySAIT) in accordance with timeline.
+ Continuously review and update course materials and lesson plans to align with learning objectives and student needs.
+ Uphold academic policies, including those related to attendance, copyright, and academic integrity.
+ Follow and reinforce lab safety polices and rules.
+ Attend scheduled team meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
+ Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, a Graduate degree is considered an asset
+ Minimum 5 years of industry experience or equivalent
+ Minimum 5 years of technical experience in electrical power systems
+ Professional Engineer designation or eligibility for APEGGA registration is an asset
+ Proficiency in power system modeling and simulation software (e.g., ETAP, PSS, CYME)
+ Prior instructional experience strongly preferred
+ Experience in laboratory environments (where applicable)
+ Solid understanding of project management principles and terminology
+ Familiarity with electrical system design, testing, installation, commissioning, operations, and maintenance is an asset
+ Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
+ Proven ability to lead and collaborate effectively
