Working in collaboration with the Unit Manager(s), the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) uses principles of adult learning and assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the educational and development needs of nursing staff for the inpatient and outpatient Older Adult Psychiatry programs at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. The successful candidate will be an expert practitioner and key educator. The CNE will take leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. Other duties include promoting clinical competence of staff through changes in policy, procedures, protocols, technology and just-in-time education. In this role, you will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will focus on the needs of the nursing teams in the specific departments, while keeping the overall needs of the department, hospital and the zone in view. You will be responsible for creating and revising documents, networking with colleagues both within and outside the Edmonton area. In addition, the CNE will work effectively in committees with the program, hospital and region. The CNE will collaborate with other educators on site, and within Recovery Alberta in the Edmonton Zone, in the provision of education that ensures safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024.
