Job Description

Reporting to the Education Manager, the CSW instructor is responsible for delivering components of the courses to students.

Work Schedule| Teaching classes will be every:

Fridays evening - 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM (MST)

Saturdays and Sundays - 09:00 AM - 1:00 PM (MST)

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Duties:

Plan, prepare, and deliver course content in accordance with the Addictions & Community Support Worker program curriculum and educational standards.

Utilize diverse instructional strategies, including lectures, group activities, practical exercises, and case studies to enhance student learning.

Develop and administer assessments, quizzes, and exams to measure student progress and understanding of the course material.

Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their performance, assignments, and practical activities.

Maintain a positive and conducive learning environment by implementing effective classroom management strategies.

Modify instructional methods to accommodate students' diverse needs, including those with disabilities or learning challenges.

Use Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital tools to facilitate course delivery and track student progress.

Student Support:

Advise students on academic matters, including course selection, career pathways, and overcoming academic challenges.

Participate in the planning and implementing IEPs for students requiring additional support.

Encourage and support students with stress, academic difficulties, or personal issues.

Address and resolve student conflicts or complaints promptly and professionally.

Administrative Duties:

Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including attendance, grades, and progress reports.

Ensure adherence to Heritage College policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.

Prepare and organize course materials, including handouts, presentations, and resources required for instruction.

Assist in managing textbooks, supplies, and equipment for the program.

Attend instructor meetings, contribute to discussions, and share insights on program improvements.

Professional Development:

Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in adult education and community support services.

Evaluate teaching methods and materials regularly to improve instructional effectiveness.

Work collaboratively with other instructors and administrative staff to enhance the overall learning experience for students.

Standards and Quality Assurance:

Serve as a student role model regarding dress, punctuality, and professional conduct.

Uphold the values, policies, and standards of Heritage College at all times.

Handle sensitive information about students and staff with discretion and confidentiality.

Qualifications and Requirements:

oMinimum: Diploma or degree in Addictions & Community Support Services, Social Work, Education, or a related field.

oPreferred: Certification in adult education or a teaching credential is an asset.

oMinimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a North American educational institution or a related field.

oProven experience working in community support services or social work.

oProficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).

oStrong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

oAbility to manage classroom dynamics effectively and handle conflicts professionally.

oPassionate about teaching and committed to student success.

oFlexible schedule availability, including weekdays and weekends as needed.

oDemonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

oSuccessful completion of a criminal background check may be required. .

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00-$32.00 per hour
