INSTRUCTOR, COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKER

FACULTY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

The is designed to prepare community support workers to practice in community programs that support unique communities such as newcomers to Canada, refugees, Indigenous communities, and individuals with disabilities.

The program has small class sizes, a work-integrated field education and a strong commitment to equitable, inclusive, and accessible learning environment. Graduates are also eligible to transfer into other diploma program offered at the College and other post-secondary institutions.

HOW YOU\'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

  • Deliver high quality instruction which facilitates highest learning gain among adult students.
  • Prepare learning materials according to college and program guidelines suitable for adult students.
  • Deliver course curriculum content using Blackboard Ultra and Moodle for synchronous and asynchronous instruction.
  • Use a variety of instructional approaches including lecture, group work, and demonstration.
  • Communicate with learners in a timely and professional manner.
  • Evaluate learners by administering formative and summative assessments, based on authenticity.
  • Maintain accurate learner academic performance records and assign final grades.
  • Work as a member of a team and liaise with other Program instructors and Program leadership.
  • Provide support to students as needed.
WHAT YOU BRING:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Human Services or any Social Science discipline or related field, Masters preferred.
  • If your education was received internationally we will need an international education assessment through
, , or one of the other nationally designated organizations, if you\'re the successful candidates. * A solid understanding of and appreciation for the programs to support unique communities.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in community as a front-line worker.
  • Previous instructional experience in a post-secondary environment and course work in adult education, with evidence of student-centered teaching excellence, is preferred.
  • Experience with learner management systems (i.e., Moodle, adobe connect, PeopleSoft student) and computer programs (i.e., word, outlook, PowerPoint)
  • A Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search within the last thirty days

  • Extensive experience within an Alberta support, resources and stakeholder relationship context is considered an asset.
SALARY: Reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience - this is a Faculty role therefore the pay range is quite large, the agreement Appendix A outlines how pay is determined. This is a full-time term position from January 4 to August 23, 2024, with the possibility of extension, and includes immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
