The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is a leadership position reporting to the Patient Care Manager of the Neurosciences Program. This role supports the delivery of high-quality patient care by enhancing and supporting staff development, education, and clinical practice within the neurosciences program inpatient unit. As an educator and role model, the CNE fosters an environment of clinical excellence, patient safety, and continuous improvement aligned with Alberta Health Services (AHS) values. The CNE is responsible for coordinating and facilitating staff orientation, continuing education, and competency-based training. They provide expert guidance, mentorship, and support to nursing staff to ensure consistent, evidence-informed practice. In collaboration with Unit Managers and the Patient Care Manager, the CNE contributes to process improvement initiatives and clinical standardization efforts. The role also includes supporting staff with Connect Care education and the development of specialized competencies relevant to neurosciences care. Demonstrating leadership in change management, teamwork facilitation, and conflict resolution, the CNE plays a pivotal role in fostering a collaborative and adaptive clinical environment. The position requires a dynamic nursing professional with strong communication skills, a commitment to lifelong learning, and the ability to inspire excellence in others.
Description:
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
