The Community Recreation and Culture Branch is looking for certified group fitness instructors to join our team. Share your passion and expertise of fitness with our patrons and members.
What will you do?
Plan and instruct Group Fitness classes that are safe, effective and educational, while providing verbal and non verbal cueing, encouragement, feedback and modifications
Provide fun, welcoming and inclusive classes for a range of fitness levels and can
Communicate and interact with patrons, members and colleagues in a positive, productive and professional manner
Cover classes at various City of Edmonton Recreation Centres when other instructors are not able to due to vacation or illness
Maintain all mandatory certifications, and attend professional development workshops and City of Edmonton training as needed
Record class statistics and relay information/feedback about classes to Group Fitness Coordinators
Other duties as required
Qualifications
:Completion of a fitness instructor certification (Fitness Alberta, Canfitpro, YMCA, or equivalent)
Zumba: Completion of Zumba B1 certificate and are required to maintain an active ZIN Membership
Essentrics: Completion of Essentrics Level 1 certificate or greater
Pilates: Completion of a minimum 100 hour Pilates instructor certification
Yoga: Completion of a minimum 200 hour Yoga teacher training
Skills required for success:
Enthusiasm, passion and energy to plan and deliver safe and effective classes for patrons and members
Ability to safely instruct classes with a variety of fitness levels and equipment using different verbal and non-verbal skills
Be receptive to feedback from members, patrons and fitness coordination team and willing to implement changes if needed

Conditions of Employment:
Valid Intermediate First Aid, CPR C and AED Certification
Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
Work Environment:
Evening and weekend work is required as well as working at various City of Edmonton locations
