Your Opportunity:The Instructor (Rural Palliative Consultant) is a Registered Nurse who has advanced palliative experience and knowledge and is able to act as a clinical consultant, leader, educator, and quality improvement advocate. The Palliative Consultant working in Rural Calgary Zone is a consultative resource to Integrated Home Care, Integrated Supportive and Facility Living (ISFL) sites, private facilities, Acute Care and diverse communities such as First Nations, Metis and Hutterite populations. The position partners with other members of Alberta Health Services (AHS) and with contracted providers to: Progressively develop and implement strategic business plans for Palliative and End of Life (EOL) care in all rural locations of care to improve palliative care service delivery, anticipate future service needs and ensure compliance with standards for palliative care. Provide advanced/ expert nursing consultation for palliative and end of life (EOL) care and symptom management for clients living in rural Calgary Zone Collaborating with leadership and teams in all locations of care to build and maintain palliative and EOL care competencies for staff and leadership. Lead teams of multiple stakeholders to solve system or care challenges through quality improvement (QI), evaluation and research activities and facilitate implementation of these solutions.Description:As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:5-7 years full-time equivalency of palliative care clinical nursing experience. Ability to work well independently and as part of an interprofessional team. Demonstrated skills as an educator, innovator, and change agent. Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication. Demonstrated leadership, adherence to DEI and trauma-informed care practices, and organizational skills. Clinical nursing experience supporting diverse, vulnerable populations and First Nations, M\xc3\xa9tis, and Inuit Peoples. High level computer literacy skills. Ability to manage competing priorities, multiple interruptions, and difficult conversations. Ability to manage emotionally stressed situations, involving patients, family members and attending teams Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated experience as an advanced practice palliative nurse in a consultant role. Trained and experienced in Connect Care CNA - Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Nursing certified (CHPCN). Completion of the ACP/GCD Course. Completion of the Serious Illness Conversation Workshop. Completion of the How to Care, What to Say Workshop.
