Job Duties/Qualifications, Skills and Abilities(QSA)
Qualified applicants will be required to teach in the traditional areas of aquatic ecology, science, as well as current needs of Natural Resource Technology programs.
Select, design, update and construct educational courses and lab aids/materials.
Manage his/her classroom/lab/activities to ensure an optimum learning environment for students.
Manage face-to-face, blended, and online courses to ensure an optimum learning environment for learners.
Follow all academic regulations and/or policies adopted by Saskatchewan Polytechnic and/or Prince Albert Campus.
Accommodate students with special learning needs.
Pursue professional development opportunities and aquatic ecology relationships to keep current with industry and educational requirements.
Practice good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Work cooperatively with program heads and colleagues in an interdependent "team "environment.
Prepare and use appropriate delivery methods for instructing courses as assigned.
Use appropriate methods of evaluating and recording student progress.
Make necessary curriculum adjustments to course content.
Attend staff, program, and division meetings.
Assist in/arrange for equipment maintenance within the program.
Assist in conducting and maintaining inventory, and in ordering supplies, equipment, and books.
Assist with acquiring and maintaining necessary permits and animal ethics approvals for work with aquatic organisms.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
1. Technical diploma or university degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Three years of recent and relevant experience in the fisheries/aquatic sector which could include:Fisheries - field, lab, and theoretical competence in the aquatic sciences including conducting water quality, bathymetric surveys, habitat surveys, stream surveys, invasive species management, road crossing design, electrofishing, aquatic macroinvertebrate identification, fish population, fish disease assessment, fish anatomy, and identification. Establishing stocking and fish harvest management programs, biomonitoring, and role of human dimensions in fisheries management.
Statistics - application of statistics in Natural Resource Management applications and use of statistical software packages
Technical Communications and Applied Research - research design, review of technical aquatic science literature, project management, and technical report write-up.
Geographic Information Systems - application of GIS to fisheries and aquatic data collection, analysis, and management.
