Your Opportunity:

The primary purpose of this position is to support the ongoing continuing education of nursing staff supporting Seniors Health programs and services. This role requires specialized expertise in order to provide resources, consultation and ensure clinical competencies and organizational standards/practices are maintained within specified areas of practice. A broad perspective is required for complex problem solving as well as collaborative work with other departments. The expectations of this role are to work independently balanced with the ability to work collaboratively in teams for project work. Seeking information on best practice, determining implementation methods using innovative solutions, identifying and overcoming barriers, and the development of procedures to reflect best practice are expectations of the position. The Instructor - Clinical Nurse Educator embraces the philosophy of person centered care, demonstrating the principles of the philosophy established within AHS policies and procedures and established standards. The Instructor - Clinical Nurse Educator recognizes that each resident and staff member has unique values and personal history and that each person has an equal right to dignity, respect, and to participate fully in their environment. The Instructor - Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for creating partnerships and relationships with residents, families and coworkers that will lead to the best outcomes and enhance quality of life. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

The incumbent will possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas: Teaching/facilitation skills in small and large group settings utilizing knowledge of adult learning principles. Coaching and mentoring skills. Involvement in developing/delivering and implementing educational programs or initiatives. Change management knowledge and experience required. Self-directed and self-motivated. Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to organize and prioritize competing demands. Demonstrated leadership skills. Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of practice related education resources to support staff. Skilled in retrieval and appraisal of evidence from a variety of credible sources to provide current accurate information. Demonstrated effective collaboration within a team environment. Understanding and application of information and communication technologies. Preferred Qualifications:

Previous assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to staff learning requirements and asset. CNA Certification in Gerontological Nursing. Supportive Pathways. PIECES training. Previous experience in the assignment of care and supervision of unregulated health providers. McMaster Case Management Training. Knowledge of Continuing Care Health Service Standards (CCHSS).
