Job Duties


1. Qualified applicants will be required to teach in the traditional areas of agriculture and food production, as well as program specialty areas based on current program needs.

2. Ability to teach in other program areas is an asset.

3. Select, design, update and construct educational courses and lab aids/materials.

4. Manage his/her classroom/lab/activities to ensure an optimum learning environment for students.

5. Manage face-to-face, blended, and online courses to ensure an optimum learning environment for learners.

6. Follow all academic regulations and/or policies adopted by Saskatchewan Polytechnic and/or Moose Jaw Campus.

7. Accommodate students with special learning needs.

8. Pursue professional development opportunities and agricultural industry relationships to keep current with industry and educational requirements.

9. Practice good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

10. Work cooperatively with program heads and colleagues in an interdependent "team" environment, including the Co-operative Education Department.

11. Prepare and use appropriate delivery methods for instructing courses as assigned.

12. Use appropriate methods of evaluating and recording student progress.

13. Make necessary curriculum adjustments to course content.

14. Attend staff, program and division meetings.

15. Assist in/arrange for equipment maintenance within the program.

16. Assist in conducting and maintaining inventory, and in ordering supplies, equipment and books.


QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)


1. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or related bioscience degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Post graduate training would be considered an asset.

2. Two years recent/relevant agriculture experience, preferably in an academic or research setting, including working knowledge/familiarity with agriculture in a Western Canadian context (e.g. relevant crop rotations and management practices).

3. Experience in customizing and adapting curriculum to client needs, both for content and delivery.

4. Hold or willing to obtain Professional Agrologist (PAg) status with the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists.

5. Effective communication (both oral and written) skills.

6. Effective interpersonal skills.

7. Effective instructional ability.

8. Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, MS Office Suite software, familiarity with learning management systems, and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.

9. Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.

10. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
