Job Summary
A Brief Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Teaching and Learning Team, the Instructional Designer works on a dynamic team with instructors and educational specialists to design high-impact learning activities for engineering students. The Instructional Designer will lead a variety of projects to create learning experiences that leverage a wide-range of delivery modes and are grounded in evidence-based pedagogical approaches. The incumbent is responsible for setting standards for the structure and overall quality of course materials, building consensus with stakeholders and championing student-centered approaches. The Instructional Designer will also fulfill the project management role on course design teams.
This position acts as the project manager for course development, including implementing and ensuring timelines, outlining course development plans and guiding the development process. This position provides subject matter expertise and leadership regarding courses to be re-offered or developed, including objectives, rubrics, design features, content and format. This position collaborates with subject matter experts, editors, web developers etc. on instructional design projects. This position also provides guidance, training and/or expertise to team members, industry partners, students, writers, faculty and/or management on tools and processes.
What you will do

Collects and analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improvements to courses and/or to gauge course success rates.
Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.
Required Education
Master's Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires a professional designation, certification, or other qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.
+ in education preferred.
Required Experience
More than 5 years of experience.
+ Experience working at a post-secondary education institution considered an asset.
+ Familiarity with online learning strategies considered an asset.
+ Experience with learning management system functionalities and standards is considered an asset.
+ Knowledge of eLearning standards and best practices as well as emerging learning technologies is considered an asset.
+ Experience in planning and/or managing projects considered an asset.
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Comprehensive understanding of what sexual violence, harassment and discrimination are, and their varying effects on diverse members of the community.
Question and take appropriate steps to address attitudes, macroaggressions and other behaviours which are discriminatory. Acknowledges and respects diverse cultural traditions, abilities and beliefs.
