MacEwan University is seeking an Instructional Designer for a casual opportunity with the School of Continuing Education.
The instructional designer works with faculty, staff, and subject matter experts to support the planning, design, development, and delivery of micro-credentials and other new programs and courses. You support fully online, blended, and face-to-face learning through your knowledge of learning theories, instructional strategies, educational technologies, online learning, research processes, and instructional design.
Key responsibilities include:
Following instructional design principles and models (e.g. agile, SAM, ADDIE, TPACK) to ensure goals of projects are met within timelines and with available resources;
Supporting faculty, staff, instructors, and subject matter experts to write, storyboard, or explain course concepts and materials;
Providing suggestions and feedback to faculty, staff, instructors, and subject matter experts who are developing online course materials;
Collaborating with team members to develop a project plan and a communication plan;
Assessing instructional design requirements;
Engaging in ongoing professional development to remain current in online learning and related technologies; and
Testing and reporting on innovative technologies and online development processes.

The ability to manage multiple projects;
Flexibility, adapting easily to varying roles required of this position;
Technical skills (computer and educational technology) including Articulate 360 Suite;
The ability to manage and meet deadlines; and
Proficiency using Moodle 3.

QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of a master's degree in education or a related discipline with relevant course work.
Courses or a programs in instructional design would be considered an asset.
A minimum of 2 years instructional design experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
