About the role
The French Department at Capilano University seeks an Instructional Associate (language monitor) working in the 2026 Spring term (January 5 - April 10) on Thursday for 5.5 hours.
The successful candidate will lead weekly conversation seminars reinforcing concepts from the lecture and make use of group activities, games, and role play. Other duties include evaluating students' oral skills and marking language lab assignments, in addition to welcoming and assisting language students (of various modern languages) working on computer-based assignments in the Language Resource Centre (LRC). The successful candidate will be engaging, creative and enjoy working in a collaborative student-centered environment.
Instructional Associates are valued members of our department and play integral roles in the success of students. Non-Regular positions are appointed on an ongoing basis subject to work availability.
Experience, competencies & qualifications

  • Candidates must have a native-like fluency in French.
  • Computer skills and technical aptitude required.
  • Minimum of a BA in relevant field.
  • Experience with post-secondary teaching preferred.
