Job Description


Star POS is looking for dynamic individuals who love learning, have a great attention to detail, and who enjoy working in the Point of Sale Technology Field. We are looking for team members to help grow our installation team, to provide fast and efficient service to new and existing customers. You will be primarily going to job sites to install and configure POS & Network equipment These site locations will be a mix of Edmonton sites, other locations within Alberta, and also locations across Canada. Additionally, you will be requested to go on site for service repairs and computer/POS/network troubleshooting within Alberta. When you do not have any active on site installations or on site service work, you will be stationed in the office to prep & stage equipment for installations, provide technical phone support to customers, keep the service tools & equipment organized and clean, and assist with the inventory team as required. You may be asked for on-call rotation duties. Job Duties for Installation Technician include:

  • Assembles and configures POS equipment, computers, networks, payment terminals, point of sale software and peripherals.
  • Installs operating systems and software packages on equipment as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot problems on POS equipment, computers, peripherals or telecommunication devices over the phone, at customer sites and in-house work shop.
  • Able to clearly give basic training on computer usage and software usage to clients.
  • Willing and able to travel on-site for service visits or overnight installations.
  • Cat 5E cable run and terminating the cables with male and female ends.
  • Patch panel installation.
  • Knowledge of Cisco switch and router.
  • Installation of hardware, printers.
  • Network printer installation.
  • DHCP, DNS basic knowledge.
  • On-Call duties during week days after hours and week-ends.
  • Scheduling, and following tasks assigned on your calendar.
  • Use of remote login tools Like Datto RMM, LogMeIn, Team Viewer.
  • Ticketing and recording client issues in ticketing software.
  • Learning and adapting new technology and software, and attend training & team meetings.
  • Ability to work in a team as well as individually on assigned tasks.
  • Always present a positive and engaging personality along with self discipline and professional behavior.
  • Provide reports to the direct supervisor regarding tasks, project progression, or issues.
Desired Work Experience, Education and skills
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in mounting of equipment on ceilings and walls, network cabling and installation of hardware
  • Professional course in Information Technology field
  • High Computer Literate Skills
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication in English
  • Valid Alberta Driving License
  • Ability to lift equipment around 50lbs
  • Pass a Criminal Record Check
