As the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Install Project Manager, you will oversee a team of City resources and meter installation vendors to manage the installation of water meters and AMI radio transmitters across residential and commercial locations. You will be setting project objectives, coordinate access and schedules, liaise with clients, address any issues, and ensure the seamless execution and delivery of the project. Primary duties include:
• Lead a multi-disciplinary team to advance project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring project deliverables are met and risks/issues are managed effectively.
• Oversee project reporting, including financial updates, status reports, and steering committee presentations, while managing project budgets, expenditures, and change requests.
• Coordinate site activities, resolve technical/non-technical issues, allocate resources, and maintain communication with clients to ensure smooth project execution and decision-making.
• Lead and manage the project team, monitor progress, resolve issues, and communicate project updates while building strong relationships with clients and motivating team members to meet objectives.
• Collaborate with leadership across the organization to assign roles, identify resource needs, and manage procurement, hiring, and contractor relationships to ensure project success.
• Mentor, coach, and provide direction to project team members, including Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and indirect reports, while monitoring their performance and ensuring quality work.
• Lead the development of project charters, scope statements, plans, schedules, budgets, and key deliverables, ensuring alignment with clients and project teams.
• Create and manage project metrics, risk management, change management, and communication plans, while securing resources and facilitating planning sessions to ensure successful project execution.
• Lead the selection process for external contractors and consultants, prepare procurement documents, and oversee the development of communication strategies in collaboration with City resources.
• Deliver presentations, chair project meetings, assess contractor performance, and manage procurement processes, including reviewing invoices, contracts, and addressing performance issues.
Qualifications • A degree in Engineering, Commerce, Business Administration, Information Technology or a related field and at least 5 years of experience in areas such as managing multidisciplinary projects and advanced project management.
• Experience in Project Management will be considered an asset.
• Experience delivering professional presentations will be considered an asset.
• Excellent communication skills, organization kills, research, analyses, reporting skills.
• Ability to work with complex multi-disciplinary projects spanning time frames that may extend from one month to multiple years.
• You will have a strong understanding of City processes, corporate relationships and political acumen.
Pre-employment Requirements • A security clearance will be conducted.
• Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit
• Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
Workstyle: This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.
