Rogers is seeking an Infrastructure Specialist reporting to the Manager, Equipment Operations (Operations Voice Data and Enhanced Svcs).

The Specialist will be accountable for ensuring the quality and stability of the Wireless access network by performing preventative and corrective maintenance routines remotely and will provide remote technical support for wireless switch and cell site equipment nationally.

What you will be doing:

  • Perform preventative maintenance routines and analyze data for Microwaves, DC power plants, RTU, free air-cooling systems and interface with NOC/Field Operations to resolve network issues.
  • Perform remote configuration, software and vendor license management.
  • Coordinate/Support/ and lead Technicians on industry/vendor best practices for operations & maintenance, to maximize efficiency and ensure consistency across the national network.
  • Support internal Planning and Engineering teams to resolve capacity/utilization issues.
  • Enhance network security through user administration of all microwave transport network elements.
  • Administer and deploy network element backup policies as part of preventive maintenance routines to ensure effective recovery of systems in emergency situations.
  • Work with OSS to continue to develop established tools and processes for preventative maintenance.
  • Build scripting solutions to automate change activities and routine tasks.
  • Maintain/update existing databases with accurate and up to date information.
  • Build and enhance reports to audit various key network parameters to ensure compliance against Rogers set standards.
  • Assist with new device integration into OSS alarming and reporting platforms.
  • Ability to work night shift as required on a regular rotational basis.
What you will bring:
  • Previous operational and maintenance experience with Telecommunication equipment.
  • Firm understanding of Microwave radios, power plants and Telemetry (RTU) equipment.
  • Demonstrated investigative, problem solving, analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data manipulation in Excel.
  • Proficient Knowledge of Network Automation, Business Objects, CLI/SNMP protocols.
  • Experience with programming languages including Java, Python, SQL and Shell would be an asset.
  • Degree in Electronics/Telecommunications or equivalent academic qualification.
