What will you do?
The R&D organization at Siemens Ruggedcom consists of multiple engineering teams that develop the next generation of Ruggedcom products. R&D hosts, manages and uses several hardware and software systems and networks to accomplish product development and testing goals. Within this R&D organization, the R&D Systems team deploys, manages and monitors R&D systems that are common to all teams, develops and implements processes to ensure compliance with cybersecurity guidelines and manages these assets according to IT best practices.
The Systems Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance and availability of assigned R&D systems and will assist in the creation of processes and procedures associated with access and use of such systems.
Responsibilities:
Configure and deploy operating system images as needed for R&D users
Configure, troubleshoot and manage servers and network devices to function as required
Provide or revoke access privileges to R&D systems on an as-needed basis
Work closely with IT to implement latest cybersecurity and Siemens IT guidelines
Ensure all R&D systems are registered in relevant internal tools for monitoring and management
Install new physical hardware or racks to host R&D systems
Document processes and procedures for R&D systems management and use
Document R&D network and systems with detailed network diagrams
Maintain logs and systems changes for all R&D systems
What will you need to succeed?
New graduate from a college program in IT systems, IT security or IT network administration
Graduated from post-secondary within the last 12 months.
Above average study performance (Accumulative average > 2.5 (B-)). Transcripts to be provided upon request.
Strong communication and presentation skills
Experience building a computer and installing Windows and Linux
Advanced skills or experience configuring enterprise switches, firewalls or other network equipment
Advanced skills or experience configuring, backing up and restoring Hyper-V Virtual Machines
Advanced skills or experience configuring Linux and working with Linux files
Advanced skills in Excel, Sharepoint and other Microsoft 365 tools
Industry certifications from Microsoft, Cisco or CompTIA will be considered an asset
Travel to domestic locations to support project objectives as required
Must be able to work from the office in Concord, ON every workday
