The Temerty Centre for Therapeutic Brain Intervention is seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Information Specialist. Reporting to the Manager and working closely with the Medical Head of the Clinic, the Information Specialist will perform administrative and data management duties for the Clinic. This high-volume clinic delivers therapeutic brain interventions within an integrated clinical and research setting to individuals experiencing a range of mental health conditions. As an integral member of the health care team, your duties will include various administrative functions such as directing patient flow, organizing, scheduling and registering consultation appointments, arranging team and other meetings, and ensuring that clinical information is directed to health records in a timely fashion. You will use an electronic scheduling system to support many of these activities including tracking referral wait times. You will also be required to enter required time sensitive data and maintain a confidential database of client contacts and referral sources. You will be involved in outpatient physician/staff schedules and contribute to other staff scheduling activities. You will also coordinate the preparation of mandatory and ad-hoc reports as required. Additionally, you will maintain, under the manager's direction, various other databases and will be required to run program activity reports. Further, you will be expected participate in special projects as assigned. You will make an important contribution to an efficient/quality outpatient service and will often act as the first point of contact for information requests, both from within CAMH and externally. You will also demonstrate a commitment to working in an inter-professional and diverse environment and to upholding CAMH's strategic directions. This position is located at the Queen Street Site.


Job Requirements




The successful candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Science or health related field combined with two (2) years of related experience. Experience working within a mental health setting is an asset. You must possess experience in scheduling appointments for clients, physicians, and staff; ideally using an automated scheduling system, room booking and meeting/event planning; accurate minute-taking at meetings; maintaining an inventory of medical-surgical and office supplies; maintaining a database of client and program information and preparing statistical reports. You will have knowledge of privacy legislation and understanding and adhering to policies relating to confidential information. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, organization, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment with minimal supervision are required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook) is required. Skill set that includes knowledge of ICARE and related scheduling system will be an asset. Previous experience working or volunteering in a health services or academic setting would be an asset. You will have demonstrated ability to multi-task and work effectively in a busy health care environment. You will also demonstrate a commitment to working in a diverse environment and to upholding the goals of the Temerty Centre and CAMH's strategic directions. Ability to work in a diverse team setting and also independently is a must. Bilingualism (French/English or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
