Infectious Disease Specialist, Internal MedicineFull Time OpportunityOur client is seeking a full-time permanent Infectious Disease Specialist to join the healthcare team in Prince Edward Island.This position is a provincial resource with the primary practice location at either the Prince County Hospital located in Summerside or the Queen Elizabeth Hospital located in Charlottetown. The successful candidate will provide virtual support to the Prince County Hospital or Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings County Memorial Hospital and Western Hospital. Based on choice of primary location, the successful candidate will have the option to provide in person monthly clinics at either the Prince County Hospital or Queen Elizabeth Hospital.Job Duties:Infectious Disease Specialists are responsible to provide consultation on patients with complex infectious diseases in the ambulatory and inpatient settings including but not limited to:Nosocomial infectionsHIVHepatitis CMycobacterial infectionsAntibiotic resistant organismsParasitic and tropical infectionsRespiratory viruses including SARS CoV-2Provide advice on antibiotic choice, delivery method and duration. NB formal antimicrobial stewardship is not considered part of this role.Provide clinical advice on outbreaks. NB formal infection prevention and control is not considered part of this role.In addition, this role will be essential in assessing the additional needs for Infectious Diseases physicians in PEI and helping to grow the program.HOURS OF WORK:Full-time hours for a salaried physician is defined as 37.5 hours per week and on-call coverage as required;Full-time contract-for-service hours is based on a maximum of 1,725 hours per year and on-call coverage as required; andParticipate in the Internal Medicine on-call schedule, providing general medicine consultations within the hospital and the ER, as well as after-hours ICU coverageINCENTIVES:Return-in-Service Grant and Moving Expense Allowance are available.Qualified and licensable candidates may be eligible for a return in service grant of $100,000 with a 3 year (5,850 hour) commitment.Faculty appointments at Dalhousie and Memorial Universities are available for teaching students and residents, without remuneration.Electronic patient record system (hospital based) with access to lab and x-ray reports from the office.Opportunities to participate and take leadership positions in local and national committeesQUALIFICATIONSRoyal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada eligibility or certification preferred.Must be eligible for licensure with the provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons.Interested candidates please contact or send CV to:Michelle Flynn, RPRCOO/ Physician Recruitment ConsultantCanAm Physician Recruiting Inc.michelleflynn@canamrecruiting.caPlease forward to any and all colleagues
