Job Description

The Infection Prevention and Control Program Coordinator provides assistance in the continuing development, implementation, evaluation, and modification of St. Joseph Health Centre Infection Prevention and Control Programs, consistent with departmental goals and objectives; coordinates activities to identify and reduce the risks of acquiring and transmitting infections in patients, health care providers and visitors.


Responsibilities:

Creates and provides regular reports regarding the IPAC surveillance, and HAI rates and regularly reviews with the IPAC team Oversees and administers daily maintenance of database activities Formats and updates internal Infection Prevention and Control related alerts and communication Assists Decision Support in reporting to the MOHLTC as part of public reporting requirements. Accountable for and acts as the key resource person provide coordination, organization, data collection, monitoring of compliance, employee education, supervision of volunteer hand hygiene auditors, and support for the St Joe's hand hygiene program Plans, develops, organizes and coordinates the operation of activities/events Provides accurate and meaningful data to internal and external teams, committees and physician groups developing and accurately assessing data needs and using available resources to obtain data Assists in REB application Supports the IPAC department with the planning, design, development, and implementation of IPAC projects and initiatives. Supporting IPAC Committee quarterly and ad hoc meetings Coordinate meetings (outbreak managemen team, IPAC team, etc.), including agendas, minutes, scheduling meetings, etc. Facilitating office functions such as maintenance or computer requests Supply monitoring and ordering Support the IPAC manager in program administrative duties

Qualifications:

Undergraduate Degree required, preferably in a heath care related field. A combination of a non-heath care related degree and related experience may be considered. Completion of an IPAC-Canada Infection Prevention & Control course required. Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) by Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology Inc. is preferred; Willingness to complete certification within two years. Member of IPAC-Canada required within 6 months. Minimum 1 year experience in an acute care facility required, 3 years preferred. Minimum 1 year experience in a customer service, administrative role required, 3 years preferred. Previous experience in infection-control strongly preferred. Previous experience in database maintenance. Ability to analyze research and implement evident-based practice into Policy and Procedure development in both clinical and non-clinical practices. Possesses highly developed analytical, problem solving, critical thinking skills. Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Ability to accurately type 50 words per minute required. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required. Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to collaboration and teamwork. Demonstrated high level of organization and time management, with the ability to appropriately prioritize multiple demands in a busy environment. Satisfactory Attendance Record.
