The Infection Control Practitioner, Construction, Renovation, Maintenance and Design (CRMD) will act as the lead resource for all construction activities within the IPAC program. This may include but is not limited to architectural drawing review (blueprints); hoarding plan review; hoarding inspections; permit approval; attendance at construction meetings; surveillance activities related to construction projects; providing guidance for internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the incumbent would share responsibility with other IPAC team members policy development and implementation, committee activities and education of staff.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide consultations and guidance related to construction and facilities activities.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (including contractors).
Participate in various CHEO committees related to planned construction, maintenance, and renovations.
Maintain knowledge of current CRMD best practices as it relates to infection prevention and control.
Review and approve Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA) and preventative measures analysis for compliance and suitability and provide feedback to stakeholders involved.
Review architectural drawings, specifications, schematics, and detailed blueprints from an IPAC perspective
Review Infection Control plans and provide feedback as needed.
Participate in ongoing quality improvement activities including education at multiple CHEO sites.
Involve in local, provincial, and national infection control groups and initiatives as required.
Participate in IPAC research as well as professional development activities.
Perform work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all CHEO corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a minimum three (3) year diploma/degree in the field of Health Sciences OR Building Sciences, Engineering or similar (Essential) Completion of IPAC Canada-endorsed education course in infection control completed, in progress, or willing to complete within first year (Preferred).
Minimum two (2) years in engineering design, project coordination, or construction-related work--ideally in healthcare or similarly complex environments. (Essential).
Experience in infection control as it pertains to construction, renovation, maintenance, and design (Preferred).
