We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic to join our procurement team. The Industrial Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing industrial materials required for our manufacturing and operations. The role requires a strong understanding of industrial supply chains, vendor management, and cost optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
Source and evaluate suppliers of industrial goods (e.g., raw materials, mechanical and electrical components).
Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
Issue purchase orders and maintain accurate records in ERP or procurement systems.
Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong relationships to ensure quality, delivery, and compliance standards are met.
Track market trends and identify risks or opportunities in the industrial supply market.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to forecast demand and prevent material shortages.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Continuously seek opportunities to reduce costs, improve lead times, and streamline procurement processes.
Assist in contract management and vendor audits.
Qualifications:
Post-Secondary Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
Minimum three (3) years
of experience in industrial or technical purchasing, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., MS Business Central) and Microsoft Office.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of industrial standards, technical specifications, and sourcing strategies.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Work Environment:
Primarily a sedentary role based in the production facility office.
Occasional physical tasks requiring the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
May require overtime work, including evenings on operating needs.
Interaction with vendors on-site.
