We are actively seeking an experienced
Industrial/Mechanical Designer
for a full-time position on our Talented Team. We offer a competitive salary complete with benefits.
Working with the department supervisor, the
Industrial/Mechanical Designer
is accountable for the preparation of
SolidWorks
drawing packages and work orders for production. 80% of this role will be technical drawing and detailing, and 20% will be creative design. As Industrial/Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for:
Creating detailed technical, fabrication drawings from hand-drawn sketches.
3D modeling and drafting using Solidworks in a PDM environment.
Creating documentation for assembly and installation.
Maintaining and updating revisions in Solidworks/PDM, ensuring the accuracy of the Bill of Materials and alignment to production work orders and drawing packages.
Following department PDM and drawing guidelines for streamlining processes and production drawing packages.
Converting AutoCAD drawings to SolidWorks.
Creating 3D renderings using Keyshot.
Using Adobe Creative Suite to create production artwork and client presentations.
Using PDF software to create production drawing packages.
Required Skills and Experience:
A degree or diploma in Industrial Design, or Mechanical Design, or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years in the Retail Displays and Store fixtures industry.
Minimum 3 years using Solidworks in a work environment. High proficiency with PDM, sheet metal, weldments and Solidworks best practices is an asset.
Excellent understanding of DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) processes for detailing and fabricating with Metal, Wire, and Wood.
Minimum 1 year using Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator and Photoshop
Minimum 1 year using Keyshot.
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office : Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Successfully able to produce manufacturing/production packages from concept to completion.
Time Management - Able to meet production timelines and be agile to prioritize urgencies.
Team Player - A positive attitude towards teamwork and ability to work with and support Design, Engineering, Sales and Production.
Communication - Able to read/write and communicate effectively in English.
Professionalism - Able to be punctual, respectful and responsible with a strong analytical ability to deal with challenges and problem solve.
