Job Overview
The
Industrial Electrician
will maintain, install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and control systems in our recycling facility. You'll work closely with maintenance teams to keep production running safely and efficiently. The role includes tasks related to both preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment to minimize downtime
Troubleshoot, repair, and test motors, PLCs, drives, and control panels
Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure safe, efficient function
Maintain and install electrical wiring, fixtures, and systems per Canadian Electrical Code
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals
Identify hazards, recommend solutions, and advise if equipment operation poses risks
Inspect and ensure compliance with safety standards and plant SOPs
Install conduit and pull wire for system upgrades and expansions
Assist in mechanical work as needed, including dusting and cleaning motors and panels
Maintain accurate logs of inspections, repairs, and adjustments
Ensure cleanliness of work area and perform housekeeping tasks regularly
Be available for emergency callouts as per schedule rotation
Follow plant lockout/tagout procedures
Report unsafe conditions immediately to maintenance or management
Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
Red Seal Certification - Industrial Electrician (Mandatory)
Minimum
5 years of experience
in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Ability to read and work from electrical blueprints and control schematics
Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Strong knowledge of PLCs, motors, electrical panels, and drives
Skilled in electrical testing using voltmeters, ohmmeters, and ammeters
Good mechanical aptitude; able to assist with fabrication and rigging
Experience operating forklifts or aerial/scissor lifts is an asset
Comfortable working from ladders or lifts when needed
Strong troubleshooting and decision-making abilities
Able to work independently or collaboratively under pressure
Commitment to safety, organization, and attention to detail

4% of total wages or two weeks at regular pay (whichever is greater)
