Summary Role
This role is part of the design team and will work on all phases of the product development process from start to finish, resulting in your designs being mass produced and sold in large retail stores. The focus of this role is to ideate and customize products including mechanical and powered equipment for people to use outdoors.
As a member of the team, this individual will work collaboratively with teams across the company to bring forward solutions that enhance the user experience.
Responsibilities
In a typical week you will:
Ideate and design products - take products from initial concept through to manufacturing launch.
Conduct market research to develop a deep understanding of product categories market trends and user needs to inform design decisions.
Source the best products currently being made in overseas markets, test them and improve them to develop unbeatable products for our market.
Keep track of a large list of ongoing projects and following the necessary steps required to complete them.
Communicate daily with manufacturers across the world, to create and improve products.
Design packaging and folded cardboard protection.
Be available for international travel for manufacturer visits/tradeshows.
Support the graphic design team by providing dielines, packaging design, renderings, and category specific marketing points.
Upkeep detailed information and documentation of products using shared large files and systems.
Able to make decisions with the goal of the best solution and not the easiest.

Experience:
University degree in Industrial Design, Product Development or equivalent
Between 2-5 years of working experience as product designer or developer
Familiar with construction, tools, electronics, gas/solar powered equipment
Solidworks experience a plus
A portfolio showcasing previous work in industrial design or related fields.
