Job Description

The Industrial Butcher is responsible for following detailed cutting specifications, and collaborating with quality assurance and production teams to ensure consistency and yield optimization. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong knife skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.

Cutting Carcasses:

break down carcasses into primal cuts (larger portions).

Boning and Trimming:

Remove bones as required from meat and trim away excess fat.

Cutting Meat:

Cut meat into specific sizes and shapes according to specifications or for further processing.

Packaging:

May also be involved in packaging meat cuts for shipment.

Quality Control:

Ensure meat cuts adhere quality standards and are properly labeled and graded.

Equipment Maintenance:

Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the equipment they use, such as knives and saws.

Specific Requirements

Knife Skills:

Expertise in handling and using knives for cutting, boning, and trimming meat.

Knowledge of Cuts:

Understanding of different meat cuts and how they are produced.

Attention to Detail:

The ability to precisely cut meat to meet specifications.

Physical Stamina:

The job requires standing for long periods and lifting heavy objects.

Safety Knowledge:

Understanding of safety procedures and regulations in a meat processing environment.

Computer skills:

utilize computer manufacturing systems (Matrix) to scale and print labels for cuts and primals.

The successful candidate will be a people-person capable of holding others accountable and encouraging their colleagues to perform.

Ideally, the person will be process oriented.

This role will require a high degree of dependability.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.50-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 44 - 60 per week
