The Indigenous Relations Advisor will be critical in fostering positive relationships between Aramark and Indigenous communities throughout Canada.




This position is responsible for being in community liaising with Aramark's Indigenous partners and clients to ensure the mutually agreed upon strategies enhance engagement with Indigenous peoples. This position will also play a key role in ensuring that our operations are aligned with Indigenous values and perspectives. The IR Representative will work collaboratively with the Director of Indigenous Relations and various internal and external stakeholders to promote cultural understanding, support community development, and uphold the company's commitment to corporate social responsibility.


Job Responsibilities

Execution of strategic engagement plans with Indigenous Communities with a focus on building and maintaining relationships, open communication, and collaboration. Account management and adherence to commitment delivery of Aramark Canada's Participation Plans with their Indigenous partners.

Conducting prospecting and opportunity assessments to identify new Indigenous partners.

Assist with corporate Indigenous initiatives.

Provide strategic advice, ongoing reporting, and communication with various internal and external stakeholders regarding Indigenous engagement and economic negotiations.

Participating in and following up on community events, industry networking events, including conferences and association events.

Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to progress Aramark's Indigenous Relations strategies and commitment to the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business's Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR) certification program.

Monitor, analyze and communicate national, regional and local indigenous issues that could affect the Company or impact strategic initiatives

Promote awareness and understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and contemporary issues within the company. Organize training and educational programs for employees.

Qualifications

Post secondary education in recognized program is preferred. 2+ years related work experience in the field of Indigenous Relations, Stakeholder Relations, Business Development and/or related field. Experience working in Indigenous relations or community engagement is preferred. Experience in a corporate environment is an asset. Strong software skills in MS Office suite, CRM tools (i.e. Salesforce) Strong social media skills and a solid social media presence Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to meet firm deadlines with minimal supervision; proven capacity to be a self-starter. Demonstrate extensive experience with collaboration with Indigenous communities and a high level of understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and contemporary issues. Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders. Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to reconciliation. Bilingualism in English and French is required.
