Progressive Pathways Behaviour & Disability Services Association is a community-based non-profit organization providing supports to individuals with developmental and physical disabilities through inclusive, person-centred, and culturally respectful services.

We are currently seeking an Indigenous Support Worker to provide direct support to an individual with disabilities. This position is designated for Indigenous applicants (First Nations, Metis, or Inuit) in recognition of the importance of cultural representation, understanding, and connection within our support services.

Overview

The Indigenous Intensive Support Worker provides guidance, structure, and mentorship to youth and young adults in various environments, including in-home, group, and community-based programs. The role focuses on fostering a

safe, respectful, and nurturing environment

that promotes emotional regulation, life skills, and cultural identity.

Responsibilities

Support youth and young adults in their daily routines, ensuring safety and well-being Use

trauma-informed and restraint-trained practices

to manage behavioural challenges calmly and effectively Facilitate engaging and culturally meaningful activities that promote growth, teamwork, and self-confidence Collaborate with team members, therapists, and families to maintain individualized support plans Accurately complete documentation, daily logs, and shift reports using technology Transport youth to and from appointments or activities (personal vehicle required)

Qualifications

Restraint Training - Required

Experience supporting Indigenous youth or communities

preferred Experience working with individuals with disabilities or behavioural needs Strong understanding of trauma-informed and person-centered practices Excellent communication, patience, and empathy when supporting clients

Valid First Aid/CPR - Required

Clear Intervention Record Check

and

Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector - Required

2 Million Liability Vehicle Insurance- Required

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation - Required Willingness to maintain professionalism and participate in ongoing training

Hours & Growth

13.5 hours per week to start (Wednesday-Friday, 4:30-9:00 PM) Opportunity for additional hours or full-time expansion
