The Indigenous Fundraising Framework Research Support will assist the University's efforts to strengthen and refine its approach to Indigenous philanthropy and partnership engagement. As part of the Corporate & Foundation Relations (CFR) team, the successful candidate will update a Collaborative Landscape Master File that compiles diverse Indigenous programs, initiatives, and research projects across campus. This role will involve research, analysis, and coordination to help identify best practices and strategies that honor Indigenous ways of knowing, reciprocity, and relationship-building. The position is part-time and designed for a graduate student with a strong interest in Indigenous research, community engagement, and fundraising practices.
Responsibilities:

• Engage with internal units, faculties, and departments to gather information on Indigenous programs and projects across campus.
• Update and maintain the Collaborative Landscape Master File to create a clear and comprehensive map of Indigenous initiatives at the University.
• Collect, organize, and analyze data from internal community members to identify overlaps, gaps, and opportunities.
• Summarize findings in accessible reports, charts, and briefing materials for Development leadership.
• Support coordination and communication among campus partners involved in Indigenous-focused initiatives.
• Contribute to developing recommendations that align with principles of reciprocity, respect, and Indigenous ways of knowing.
• Perform related administrative and coordination tasks to advance the project.

Qualifications:
Minimum

• Currently enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Alberta (Master's or PhD).
• Strong organizational and data management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrated ability to gather, synthesize, and present information clearly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures, and perspectives.
• Ability to work independently while engaging collaboratively with diverse campus community members.

Preferred

• Prior experience conducting mapping, environmental scans, or program inventories.
• Familiarity with Indigenous-focused programs, initiatives, or supports within post-secondary institutions.
• Experience engaging with multiple community members (e.g., faculty, staff, students) in a collaborative and professional manner.
• Knowledge of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they apply to research and engagement.
• Proficiency in creating accessible reports, charts, or presentations to communicate findings.

About the Team:
The leads the University of Alberta's efforts to enhance and protect its reputation locally, nationally, and globally. This role oversees the development and execution of strategic initiatives that shape how internal and external audiences perceive the university.
With a focus on communication, engagement, and relationship-building, the Vice-President provides leadership for Communications and Marketing, Alumni Relations, Advancement, and Government and Community Relations. These teams collaborate to support the university's brand, foster donor and alumni engagement, and establish strong connections with public and community partners.
Through these coordinated efforts, the Vice-President - External Relations ensures the university's image, influence, and impact are advanced in alignment with its mission, values, and long-term goals.
