Indigenous Community Coordinator, Pediatrics

Primary Purpose: The Indigenous Community Coordinator is a new term position created to gather and understand the various health resources available to children in Indigenous communities across Saskatchewan. The successful applicant will engage with community leaders, health practitioners and Department faculty. The information gathered will inform a Provincial strategy of pediatric care for children within Indigenous and remote communities.
Nature of Work: Reporting to the Manager, Pediatrics, this position balances administrative and project management work, alongside community engagement. The work is performed in a fast-paced environment requiring strong organizational and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities. The successful candidate will assist in the design of the project, which will inform the delivery and implementation of a strategic planning initiative.
Typical Duties or Accountabilities:

• Work with Faculty and the Manager to develop a framework for relevant data collection.
• Foster relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, and leaders to strengthen partnerships and collaboration.
• Organize and participate in events and activities that gather community leaders, knowledge keepers, pediatricians and allied health personnel.
• Recognize community strengths and prioritize patient-centered strategies.
• Gather knowledge, reflecting Indigenous perspectives and knowledge systems, to enable development and implementation of policies and programs that will improve pediatric care.
• Gather, track, evaluate, and report on progress toward strategic goals and milestones.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of processes, policies, and initiatives that align with the Department.

Education:

• Completion of a recognized post-secondary degree in a related field (Indigenous Studies, Social Work etc) is required. An equivalent level of education and experience may be considered.

Experience:

• Minimum two years of related experience, preferably in a health-focused setting serving Metis, First Nations, or Inuit communities.
• Direct experience working with Metis, First Nations, and Inuit people and communities is essential.
• Experience with strategic planning and project management would be an asset.
• Must hold and maintain a valid Saskatchewan driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Experience in working with diverse groups of organizations and peoples. Able to show knowledge and enthusiasm for outreach and engagement with communities.

• Organization & Adaptability: Able to manage multiple priorities, adapt to change, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Must have effective organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail
• Initiative & Problem-Solving: Anticipates needs, proactively addresses issues, and exercises sound judgment.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), web-based technologies, and database systems. Experience with compiling reports, presentations, and maintaining databases is preferred.
• Language: Fluency with an Indigenous language would be considered an asset

Salary: The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $53,091.00 - 82,954.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
