The Campbell Family Mental Health Research Institute (CFMHRI) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) seeks a full-time, permanent Independent Scientist who has an established research portfolio in the area of translational psychiatry, with a strong background in molecular and cellular neuroscience using preclinical models of psychiatric disorders. The successful candidate is expected to lead an independent research program on studying neural bases of complex behaviours, including mood and cognitive regulation, and the underlying psychopathological mechanisms at gene, cell, protein, and circuit levels, with an overall scope of identifying novel and effective strategies for treatment and prevention of mental illnesses.
Special emphasis will be placed on expertise with neuronal proteome changes that may occur commonly or differentially in men and women across the lifespan, causing neural circuit vulnerability and hence contributing to symptom emergence. The overarching goals of the candidate\xe2\x80\x99s program should be to identify novel targets and pharmacological agents that would allow for the rapid translation of findings into putative drug development in human subjects (i.e., bench-to-bedside translation).
Please note:
Additionally, the candidate\xe2\x80\x99s established program is expected to complement and synergize with the exiting cross-institutional programs on clinical and preclinical studies on psychiatric genetics, brain imaging, informatics, and drug development.
