Job Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Independent Occupational Therapist specializing in Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) clients in the area of . The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of therapeutic practices and demonstrate a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for individuals recovering from traumatic experiences. As an Independent Occupational Therapist, you will provide tailored therapeutic interventions, conduct assessments, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate optimal recovery outcomes.

Duties



Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate functional abilities and develop individualized treatment plans for MVA clients. Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy, crisis intervention, and motivational interviewing to address diverse patient needs. Provide direct support and counseling services, utilizing techniques such as group therapy, art therapy, and dance therapy to promote emotional healing. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care, including case management and coordination of services for patients with developmental disabilities or chronic pain. Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality and proper coding using ICD-9 and ICD-10 standards. Engage in clinical research activities to contribute to the advancement of occupational therapy practices within the field of behavioral health. Facilitate family counseling sessions to support the involvement of loved ones in the recovery process. Stay informed about current trends in mental health counseling, addiction counseling, and patient care strategies to enhance service delivery.

Qualifications



A valid occupational therapy license with experience working specifically with MVA clients or similar populations. Proficiency in various therapeutic modalities including psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, and crisis management techniques. Demonstrated experience in working with children and families, particularly in pediatric settings or special education environments. Strong understanding of medical terminology, patient assessment protocols, and clinical documentation practices. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds while maintaining a respectful and inclusive approach. Familiarity with telehealth platforms is preferred to facilitate remote consultations when necessary. Knowledge of psychopharmacology principles is an asset for integrated treatment planning. A commitment to ongoing professional development through participation in workshops or training related to grief counseling, PTSD care, or gender issues counseling.
