Job Description

UCN acknowledges that we are on the traditional

continuously maintained homelands in northern


Manitoba since time immemorial. The First


Nations in the area that UCN serves entered into

and the treaty 5 adhesion, and treaty 6 - located


within the treaty 5 adhesion). The territory has


also become home to other Indigenous peoples.

and learning.

DUTIES

UCN is seeking casual instructors to teach courses for the Indigenous and Northern Counselling Skills Certificate Program that is offered


via virtual delivery to UCN locations in Manitoba. The courses will run from August 2025 - November 2026 and will be delivered on Tuesday


and Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m.- 9:30 p.m. Please see attached course schedule for a complete list of courses; each course includes


prep time, class time and wrap-up. Instructors are asked to indicate which courses they are able to teach when applying.







REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

o Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Social Work or the Social Sciences, an equivalent combination of education and experience may


be considered Minimum of two years' experience counselling adults, children and youth Experience teaching adults Strong knowledge of Indigenous counselling skills and techniques Ability to develop course content utilizing Indigenous paradigm Ability to create culturally relevant instructional practices with adult and Indigenous learners Effective leadership skills Proficient use of technology Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge and understanding of the Indigenous culture Commitment to life-long learning

ASSETS

o Master's Degree in Counselling, Social work or the Social Sciences


Ability to speak an Indigenous language

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

o Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada


Must be available to work evenings Valid Class 5 Driver's License, or equivalent as travel may be required College Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program or have previously
completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
