Purpose Secondary School of the Lower Mainland Purpose Society for Youth and Families, New Westminster, BC, is seeking a full-time Secondary Inclusive Education teacher in the Humanities and electives

The start date for this assignment is

September 1, 2025.



Successful Applicants Must:



Have at least two years experience and success working with neuro-diverse students with designations related to mental health, autism, chronic health or learning challenges

A valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate

Possess the qualities of a passionate educator who loves inspiring students to succeed Have proven ability as an educator who is continually improving his or her practice to benefit the learning of his or her students through the pursuit Agency (in-house) and external opportunities for professional development Be prepared and motivated to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff team members to better meet the social/emotional/ mental health/learning needs of our neuro-diverse students Further develop working relationships with other professionals within the Agency to affect best practice in program delivery and to develop a sense of collegiality within the Agency Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, community resource members and parents Possess effective interpersonal skills to establish connections and meaningful working relationships with students, parents, and staff.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:



A valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate

Qualifications and demonstrated passion and ability to teach at the secondary level to support students working towards their Dogwood diploma or Evergreen certificate. Training and flexibility to adjust to other course assignment demands including electives. The willingness to work on teacher teams to collaborate regarding curriculum assessment, cross curricular opportunities ,instruction, and planning The ability and desire to learn and utilize technology/computers in the instructional process and reporting procedures Classroom management practices reflecting a relationship based, trauma-informed approach An ability to work with students to support their social / emotional development Ability to differentiate instruction and support varying learning needs through accommodation, adaptation and modification Experience with the BC curriculum requirements Committed to both individualized and group processes A genuine liking for and desire to work with adolescent students, including a commitment to sound instructional techniques that promote an effective learning environment and promote the five qualities of the Heart-Mind- Well-Being Framework embraced by the school Computer related skills such as word processing for creating reports

econdary School Timetable and Structure



Linear School Year 35-hour work week Four courses per day, Monday to Thursday Friday is set aside for individual and small group student support, preparation, collaborative planning, and professional development and team meetings.
