Position Summary

The Shift Manager is the on-site leader during assigned shifts, responsible for seamless restaurant operations without the need for constant supervision. This role demands strong leadership, independent problem-solving, and the ability to enforce Shawarma Royale's brand standards while delivering an authentic Syrian guest experience. The Shift Manager oversees staff performance, ensures operational efficiency, maintains food safety compliance, and resolves customer concerns with authority and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Oversight



Take full ownership of shift operations, ensuring all staff are performing duties efficiently and to standard. Assign, supervise, and verify completion of shift checklists and critical tasks. Enforce discipline and accountability, escalating issues only when necessary. Execute opening and closing procedures independently, including cash reconciliation and facility security.

Operational Excellence



Oversee guest service flow, speed of operations, and product accuracy. Ensure consistent application of Shawarma Royale's recipes, preparation techniques, and food safety standards. Monitor and manage inventory levels, oversee deliveries, and execute FIFO (First-In, First-Out) rotation practices. Handle scheduling adjustments, last-minute staffing issues, and workflow optimization in real time.

Customer Service & Brand Representation



Act as the highest authority in-store during assigned shifts for guest satisfaction. Resolve complaints and service issues immediately, maintaining professionalism at all times. Uphold Shawarma Royale's brand identity rooted in authentic Syrian culture, engaging with guests in both English and Arabic. Conduct "table touches" and ensure dining area cleanliness and guest comfort.

Staff Management & Training



Provide guidance and training to new hires and ongoing coaching to existing staff. Hold team members accountable to performance and behavioral expectations. Recommend promotions, transfers, or disciplinary actions based on performance evaluation. Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and respect.

Administration & Reporting



Submit shift reports including sales, incidents, and labor utilization. Review and correct employee time punches before payroll submission. Communicate effectively with senior management on operational priorities, staff performance, and guest feedback.
Prerequisites

Language:

Fluent in English and Arabic (mandatory).

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary in business/management preferred.

Experience:

Minimum

2 years of supervisory or management experience in QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) with a comparable cuisine/food type (shawarma, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, or grill concepts).

Skills & Competencies:

Proven ability to run shifts independently without constant oversight. Strong leadership, staff development, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities. High attention to detail with the ability to uphold standards consistently.

Technology:

Proficiency in POS systems, scheduling tools, and digital communication (e.g., WhatsApp).

Physical Requirements:

Ability to bend, stand, and walk throughout the shift; capable of lifting 10 lbs frequently and up to 30 lbs occasionally.
