Position Summary:



The IMPACT Co-Response Worker (ICW) works as part of a multidisciplinary team and under the guidance of the IMPACT Program Manager and will provide mobile addiction and mental health (AMH) support and services in collaboration with local police services. Embedded in police service locations, the ICW will assist with AMH-related calls for service when appropriate, acting as a liaison between police and the AMH health system, including crisis intervention and primary care services. They will work with IMPACT Transitional Workers or other AMH staff to facilitate engagement, service navigation, harm reduction, relapse prevention, crisis planning, and follow-up. In addition, the ICW will conduct outreach, provide community education, and promote service engagement while traveling between CMHA HPE, police locations, and local hospitals.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:



Post-secondary degree in a related discipline (social work, psychology, criminology, behavioural sciences); an acceptable combination of education and related work experience in mental health, addictions, psychiatry, crisis service delivery or equivalent may be considered. Wide range of crisis intervention experience, risk assessments and interventions that include hospital based
psychiatric services, emergency departments experience and community mental health services and system navigation.

Minimum three to five years of relevant/recent experience directly related to the provision of mental health and/or addictions services required Ability/willingness to deal with numerous competing demands in a fast-paced environment with police services, while observing deadlines Well-developed presentation skills to present assessment information and provide effective information sessions to referral sources and reports regarding the team's activities in various forums. Well-developed clinical and group leadership skills to assist in the planning, coordinating, and evaluating services, participation in the development of systems to collect information for program planning and to provide input for strategic planning purposes. Ability to travel between agency work sites and to community meetings Current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (FA/CPR) Certification Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred or willingness to certify within 3 months of hiring Current Suicide Intervention training (i.e. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is an asset Ability to work under pressure within a changing environment Working knowledge of the Health Care Consent Act, Mental Health Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, and other relevant legislation Awareness of community resources Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team or independently as required Ability to adjust to working in different social and economic environments Basic proficiency in computer skills; MS Office preferred Ability to work flexible hours and including evening and weekends Must possess a valid Ontario Driver's License and have regular access to a reliable vehicle and provide proof of adequate vehicle insurance. Required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector prior to hire
