Description: In this course through a series of lectures and case discussions, students learn about the formation, financing, and management of early-stage ventures especially as it relates to the (bio)technology and associated medical device space. Topics include opportunity identification and assessment, preclinical and clinical phases, regulatory procedures and pathways, legal issues including patents and venture finance. Students will each be required to select a young, publicly-traded company in which to complete an in-depth analysis, presentation and report.

Number of positions: Two (2) position Course to be co-taught between two instructors.

Estimated course enrolment: 25 students

Class schedule: Monday 6:30-8:30PM

Sessional dates of appointment: Septmeber 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023

Salary: Position # 1 $8,633.87 Position #2 $8,633.87 ( includes 4% vacation)

Qualifications: PhD and/or industry experience required, plus teaching experience in accredited courses at a recognized university. A Master\'s or higher degree in the life sciences and/or management is an asset. Experience with courses focused on biotechnology management and experience with entrepreneurship are highly desirable assets.

Description of duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content, development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams, calculation and submission of grades, holding regular office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student contact. The mode of instruction for this course is expected to be in-person. However, if this changes for any reason, you will be provided with as much advance notice as possible.
