Imaging Coordinator

. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.


Reporting to the Imaging Core Lead of the Calgary Stroke Program's Stroke Clinical Trials Group (SCTG) , the Imaging Coordinator plays a critical role in the management, analysis, and quality control of imaging data across the group's clinical trials and research projects. This position will support researchers at all phases of the research process, with an emphasis on medical imaging operations, image data handling, imaging-related software pipelines, and quantitative analysis of imaging outcomes.

Imaging Core Accountabilities

Manage imaging data workflows for clinical trials, including data acquisition, transfer, curation, anonymization, storage, and quality assurance Support the development and implementation of standardized imaging protocols for multicentre clinical trials Develop, validate, and maintain imaging analysis pipelines for stroke research (e.g., lesion segmentation, perfusion quantification, vascular imaging) Perform imaging quality control checks and support trial sites with troubleshooting imaging data submissions Collaborate with investigators to integrate imaging endpoints into study design and grant proposals Document imaging workflows and prepare imaging analysis reports for publications, regulatory submissions, and presentations Contribute to imaging innovation projects involving AI/ML, novel biomarkers, and automation of imaging workflows

Clinical Trial / Research Operations Accountabilities

Work in close collaboration with clinical trial operations teams to ensure imaging endpoints are integrated into trial conduct Support regulatory compliance for imaging data (Health Canada, FDA, EMA, and other global bodies) Provide imaging input into trial protocols, case report forms, and study manuals Assist with training site personnel in imaging acquisition and transfer protocols Support preparation of imaging sections for ethics submissions, manuscripts, conference abstracts, and presentations

Leadership / Mentorship Accountabilities

Provide technical mentorship and support to students, trainees, and staff involved in imaging projects Manage competing priorities and ensure imaging deliverables are completed on schedule Foster strong relationships with principal investigators, clinical collaborators, and external trial partners Contribute to strategic development of the Stroke Imaging Core's technical capacity and infrastructure

Qualifications / Requirements:



BSc and or MSc degree(s) (Biomedical, Electrical, Computer, or related discipline) 2 - 5 years of relevant experience in medical imaging, image processing, or related research fields Familiarity with imaging analysis software and programming environments (e.g., MATLAB, Python, ITK/VTK, FSL, SPM, 3D Slicer, OsiriX, or equivalent) Strong understanding of imaging modalities commonly used in stroke (CT, MRI, angiography, perfusion imaging) Preferred experience with image data handling, including DICOM standards, PACS systems, and data de-identification workflows Previous experience data cleaning, processing, and quality controlling clinical trial imaging Experience in quantitative imaging analysis and algorithm implementation (segmentation, registration, volumetrics, perfusion quantification, etc.) Experience with reproducible research methods and version control (Git/GitHub) considered an asset Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and Tri Council Policy Statement (TCPS 2) training, research ethics, and imaging data regulatory requirements is an asset Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to learn new imaging technologies and analysis methods Strong communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary research and clinical teams Project management and organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent imaging projects Previous experience and understanding of clinical workflows, practices, medical terminology as well as research in a clinical or population health context Excellent English language skills in reading, writing and oral communication
