Your Opportunity
We are currently seeking an entry level Instrumentation Technologist / Engineering Intern / Summer Student, to join our Energy and Resources Team.
You will have the opportunity to join our Integrated Design team providing project design support through our entire Energy and Resources operating unit. This includes exposure to industry sectors such as Power Generation and Distribution, Oil & Gas, Mining, and the rapidly growing renewable energy sector and energy transition projects across North America.
As an Instrumentation Technologist / Engineer in Training, your role is to work with direct supervision and general direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a senior Technologist or Engineer.
Your Key Responsibilities
Under the direction of an I&C Engineer / Technologist or Team Lead, assist with engineering design activities for projects of various sizes and complexity. Complete tasks as assigned in a timely, thorough, and organized manner. Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
Supports project team in development of design documentation, plans and reports.
Prepares instrumentation datasheets, and procurement support documents.
Supports technical bid evaluations (TBEs) for equipment.
Assists and completes required calculations for instrument sizing, material selection, etc. using appropriate engineering methodology and principles.
Support the development of wiring and panel drawings, instrument installation details, etc.
Assists in P&ID development input and support.
Participates in constructability reviews.
Assists in development of Construction Work Packages (CWPs).
Participates in site visits and field engineering work.
Learns and works within Stantec\'s project delivery, and quality control guidelines.
Complies with Stantec\'s HSSE program, with a focus on safety in the field. Ensure all work is completed with safety of paramount concern.
Learns to apply appropriate codes, specifications, and standards (both legislated and client-specific).
Qualifications

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including effective communication in a remote \'work-from-home\' scenario.

Ability to perform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Willing to go the \'extra mile\' to support projects, clients, and fellow employees.
Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, and AutoCAD is an asset.
Education and Experience
Enrolled and completed at least 1 year in a Technical Diploma or 2 years of a Bachelor\'s Degree in Instrumentation and Controls / Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
