Job Description

About Keystone School

Keystone School is a private co-ed institution located in the heart of Toronto's Annex neighbourhood, welcoming both local and international learners. As an IB Diploma Programme Candidate School, Keystone is deeply committed to the values of the International Baccalaureate -- inquiry, reflection, global-mindedness, and academic integrity.

Our learning environment is intentionally designed to help students become curious, compassionate, and critically engaged thinkers. We blend our strong Ontario curriculum with IB-inspired approaches to teaching and learning, including inquiry-driven projects, conceptual understanding, and real-world application. Small class sizes and a supportive community allow students to take intellectual risks, ask meaningful questions, and develop the skills needed to navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected world.

At Keystone, students are encouraged to explore multiple perspectives, build their communication and research skills, and develop as independent learners who see themselves as active contributors to a global society. Our mission is to nurture a lifelong love of learning while preparing students to thrive -- academically, personally, and socially -- in an ever-changing international landscape.

Responsibilities:

Design and implement engaging, inquiry-driven lesson plans that reflect both the Ontario curriculum and the principles of the IB Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL). Cultivate international-mindedness by integrating authentic global contexts, cultural exploration, and opportunities for students to engage with multiple perspectives. Facilitate experiential, concept-based learning activities that encourage students to think critically, communicate effectively, and make real-world connections through the study of French/Spanish language and culture. Create a positive, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment where diverse learning styles and identities are valued and supported. Use a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies aligned with IB assessment philosophy, providing meaningful and constructive feedback that supports student growth. Promote ATL skill development, including research, communication, self-management, thinking, and social skills. Integrate technology and digital tools to deepen inquiry, support differentiation, and enhance language acquisition. Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, refine assessment practices, and support whole-school IB initiatives and the development of the Diploma Programme. Support students with diverse learning needs through differentiated instruction and individualized strategies that promote engagement and success. Contribute to the wider school community, including supervising extracurricular activities, participating in school events, and engaging in cultural or language-based programming. Participate in ongoing professional development, including IB-specific training, workshops, and collaborative learning opportunities. Model and reinforce the attributes of the IB Learner Profile, encouraging students to become open-minded, reflective, principled, and caring global citizens.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in French, Spanish, Education, or a related field. Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification. Proven experience teaching French and/or Spanish at the Grade 7-12 level. Strong understanding of the Ontario curriculum and current assessment practices. Demonstrated ability to implement inquiry-based and student-centered teaching methodologies. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills. Ability to create an inclusive learning environment that supports diverse learners. Comfort integrating technology and digital learning tools into classroom instruction. Commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflective practice.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching in an IB school or familiarity with the IB philosophy and program structure (MYP/DP). Experience with concept-based instruction, inquiry cycles, and project-based learning. Understanding of the IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Teaching and Learning. Experience using digital platforms that support language acquisition, collaboration, and assessment.
