Modern Medical is a brand new, doctor-led Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) clinic opening in September 2025. HBOT is an established OHIP-insured treatment, used to treat common ailments such as non-healing wounds and burns. Treatment involves laying in an HBOT chamber, breathing 100% oxygen for 2 hours. HBOT clinics are globally established, the nearest being in Southern Ontario and we are bringing the first clinic to Thunder Bay. Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Hyperbaric Technician in our outpatient hyperbaric center. The Hyperbaric Technician will play a crucial role in assisting the healthcare team in the efficient and safe operation of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) sessions. This entry-level position provides an excellent opportunity for learning and growth in the field of hyperbaric medicine.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the safe and efficient set-up, operation, and maintenance of hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers.
- Prepare the chambers and equipment for each session, ensuring cleanliness, functionality, and proper oxygen supply.
- Assist patients in properly donning and doffing personal protective equipment (PPE) required for HBOT treatments.
- Educate patients on the procedures and safety measures associated with hyperbaric treatments.
- Monitor patients during hyperbaric sessions, remaining vigilant for any signs of discomfort, distress, or potential adverse reactions.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient treatments, progress, and any changes in their condition.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and treatment coordination.
- Assist in the stocking, inventory management, and ordering of hyperbaric related supplies.
- Adhere to safety protocols, infection control measures, and regulatory guidelines to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Participate in continuing education and training opportunities to expand knowledge in hyperbaric medicine.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in healthcare-related fields are a plus.
- Prior experience in a medical or healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols and procedures accurately.
- Empathy and demonstrated ability to interact effectively and sensitively with patients.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and contribute to a positive and collaborative culture.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in electronic medical record systems.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50lbs) when necessary.
- Ability to act responsibly in regards to personal health information.
Note: Training under the direction of experienced hyperbaric professionals will be provided for this entry-level position. Training will be scheduled in August of 2025, organized by the employer.
