Burbank is seeking a skilled and dependable Hydrovac Operator to support our telecom installation projects in the Alberta area with projects nationwide. The ideal candidate will have experience operating hydrovac trucks in a safe and efficient manner while working in demanding environments. This role is critical to ensuring the safety and success of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) operations.

Responsibilites:
As a Hydrovac Operator, you will play a key role in preparing and maintaining safe work sites for telecom drilling and installation projects. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Operating hydrovac equipment to safely and efficiently expose underground utilities, trenches, and other excavation needs.
Ensuring that all work complies with project specifications, safety protocols, and utility regulations.
Supporting HDD operations by clearing debris and verifying bore paths.
Performing pre- and post-trip inspections of hydrovac equipment to ensure proper function.
Communicating with the project team, including the Drill Operator and Locator, to ensure seamless project execution.
Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work site and hydrovac unit.
Completing all required safety and project documentation, such as FLHAs, pre-use inspections, and job safety analysis forms.
Participating in site safety activities, including toolbox talks and monthly safety meetings.
Troubleshooting and resolving minor equipment issues or reporting them to the maintenance team.
Assisting with other tasks as needed to support the drilling and telecom installation teams.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of hydrovac operating experience.
Knowledge of underground utility systems and safe excavation practices.
Familiarity with soil conditions and techniques for safe hydrovac operations.
Ability to read and interpret utility locates, project plans, and diagrams.
Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in demanding environments with tight deadlines.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members.
Safety-conscious attitude and ability to follow strict safety procedures.
Certificates:
Ground Disturbance Level 2 training certification (required).
CSTS 2020 training certification (required).
First Aid and WHMIS certifications (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
Physically fit and capable of lifting up to 50lbs.
Comfortable working outdoors in varied weather conditions.
Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements:
Valid Class 1 and a clean driver's abstract (required).
Ability to travel to job sites throughout Alberta and Canada, as needed.
Assets (Not Required but Preferred):
Experience supporting HDD or telecom installation projects.
Familiarity with hydrovac maintenance and troubleshooting.
