Who are we looking for?



GHD is looking for an

Intermediate Hydrogeologist

to join the Hydrogeology team in the

Mississauga, Ontario

office, who can conduct research or perform evaluations of a geological or hydrogeological nature. Create technical reports to inform proposals, budgets, support environmental impact assessments and regulatory compliance for civil infrastructure projects or projects to address environmental challenges. Using knowledge of various scientific disciplines, may collect, synthesize, study, report, and recommend action based on data derived from measurements or observations of soil, water, and other sources. This position is a great opportunity to be part of an established Hydrogeology practice in Canada.


The Hydrogeology Group works on a variety of projects including infrastructure tunneling, linear infrastructure, and land development projects. Office, field, and hydrogeological support is also provided internally for a variety of environmental projects. Estimated approximately 20% of time outside the office in the field, although this may vary seasonally and by project.

Responsibilities

Insights and Reporting:

Prepare and coordinate the completion of various data and analytics reports.

Solutions Analysis:

Analyze specific problems and issues to find the best solutions. Solutions could be technical or professional in nature.

Geoscientific Studies and Interpretations:

Contribute to well proposals by providing complex analysis and interpretation of geological/geophysical field data. Involves using advanced modeling techniques.

Health, Safety, and Environment:

Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace. Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating serious issues as appropriate.

Personal Capability Building:

Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Client & Customer Management (External):

Manage important client relationships with guidance from senior colleagues or oversee relationship management with a group of more transactional clients and customers.

Simulation and Modeling:

Coordinate a complex process to conduct comprehensive simulations or modeling, testing the performance of different solutions.

Community of Practice Management:

Participate actively in a community of practice in a defined area of expertise or consulting to build own expertise.

Mineral Reserves and Resource Assessment:

Create and implement comprehensive mineral assessment plans.

Exploration Plan Development:

Design and implementing complex exploration plans.

Bid Solicitation/Request for Proposal/Tender Preparation:

Gather information and resources, and draft and complete requests for bid solicitation requests for proposal (RFP) and requests for tender (RFT) on the requester side.

Project Management:

Deliver small- or medium-scale projects while working within an established program management plan.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in earth/environmental sciences or engineering Master's degree in earth/environmental sciences or hydrogeology would be considered an asset

Experience

General Experience:

5-15 years of professional experience with a P.Geo. or P.Eng. Licence Strong understanding and demonstrated field experience in soil classification, overburden drilling methods and soil, sediment and groundwater sampling protocols Proven project and client management skills Excellent English writing and verbal communication is required to effectively express technical information Exceptional attention to detail is integral Valid driver's license
